Poland to unite Eastern European media regulators to combat Russian propaganda

In September, a meeting of nine media regulators of Eastern European countries will be held to create a strategy to combat Russian propaganda.

"In order to convey the threat of the spread of disinformation from Russia to Western European societies, the media regulator of Poland initiated the unification of nine media regulators of Eastern European countries. Together, we will promote a strategy to combat Russian propaganda in the EU, explain the context of the war. A special meeting devoted to the creation of this association of Eastern European countries is to be held in Warsaw in September," Head of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine Olha Herasymyuk told Ukrinform in an interview.

She added that Ukraine will take part in forming the agenda of the meeting.

During the presentation of the research "Ukrainians' ability to distinguish propaganda messages", VoxCheck project head Svitlana Slipchenko expressed the opinion that Ukraine still needs to fight against Russian narratives about "nationalists in Ukraine", "oppression of Russian speakers" and the Revolution of Dignity as a "coup d'état", and targeted state policy and informal communication between Ukrainians will facilitate the fight.
