Many UOC MP representatives cooperating with Russia's FSB - Danilov

The decision to free the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) will be implemented, because a great number of representatives of this church are cooperating with Russia's FSB spy agency.

Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said this in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, according to Ukrinform.

"Let's be patient. Believe me, the decision will be implemented. Of course, no one is going to pull them out of there by their beards or legs. Because this is a project that was written out in Russia's FSB. They have instructions on how to behave. The vast majority do not understand what process they are participating in. I can officially state that the number of people who cooperate with Russia's FSB, with the 1st, 5th, 9th FSB Directorates, unfortunately, is very, very large. And I am sorry when people, not understanding these processes, begin to participate in them. People, not understanding that these people are representatives of Russia's FSB. […] They do not understand the process in which they make decisions," Danilov said, adding that the country will pass this way and citizens will obey the laws of Ukraine.

He supported the decision made by the local authorities of the Khmelnytskyi region and Lviv city regarding the transition of religious communities to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Four charters of religious communities were registered in the Khmelnytskyi region on April 3. The communities left the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
