Belarus authorities reportedly detaining relatives of local volunteers who died fighting for Ukraine - media

Relatives of Belarusian volunteers, who were killed in action fighting for Ukraine against Russia, are being detained in Belarus.

That’s according to the Belarusian Gayun Telegram channel, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that the security forces detained Vasiliy Parfenkov, a relative of a soldier with the ethnic Belarusian Kastus Kalynovsky Regiment, who died in a battle near Ukraine’s Lysychansk.

After his arrest, he was forced to record a "repentance video" where he refers to himself as brother of the late Vasiliy and "admits" that he was subscribed to "extremist" Telegram channels.

Alexandr Lukashenko’s forces had already detained Parfenkov’s cousin, sister, and mother earlier.

As reported, Belarus recently introduced a “higher terrorist alert” across the country.
