Six more regions may move into red zone of COVID-19 restrictions – Liashko

Health Minister of Ukraine Viktor Liashko has said that Zakarpattia, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Vinnytsia and Sumy regions may move into the red zone of COVID-19 restrictions.

"Regions, which are vaccination outsiders, are actively moving towards the red level of epidemiological danger. Zakarpattia, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Vinnytsia and Sumy regions currently have the highest risk of rapid transitioning to the red level of epidemiological danger," Liashko said during an hour of questions to Government held in Parliament on Friday, January 28, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to the minister, it was not accidentally that a new outbreak started in western regions, Ivano-Frankivsk and Rivne regions, which are now in the red zone of COVID-19 restrictions. Liashko stressed that these regions have the lowest vaccination rates – 36% and 42%, respectively.

At the same time, in terms of vaccination coverage, Kyiv city, Kyiv and Poltava regions are in lead, where more than 70% of adults have been fully vaccinated.
