Nine regions may leave red zone of COVID-19 restrictions next week

Nine regions of Ukraine may leave the red zone of COVID-19 restrictions next week.

Health Minister Viktor Liashko said this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"As for the regions that may leave [the red zone], the Health Ministry has already submitted a request to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to convene the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations. Eight regions are potentially ready to leave [the red zone]. We expect there will be another one, the ninth, tomorrow," the official said.

Liashko said that a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations is scheduled for next week.

As of today, the red zone of epidemiological danger includes Kyiv city, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Rivne, Sumy, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv and Chernihiv regions.

As Ukrinform, Ukraine recorded 13,777 new COVID-19 cases on December 2.
