Government allocates UAH 13M for housing for IDPs

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 13 million for housing for internally displaced persons, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said on Telegram.

"More than a hundred internally displaced persons will be able to get new homes. The Cabinet of Ministers has supported the decision to allocate an additional 13 million hryvnias for these needs," Shmyhal wrote.

According to him, the government also approved an additional subvention of UAH 283 million for local budgets to improve housing conditions for veterans - IDPs who were wounded and disabled during the defense of the state.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, said earlier that the program to purchase housing for internally displaced persons through co-financing from the state and local budgets would be extended for at least three years. In particular, it is planned to spend UAH 125 million on the program in 2022, and the same amount was allocated from the state budget this year for the purchase of housing for IDPs.

Vereshchuk said she considered it realistic to provide housing for 3,000 internally displaced persons each year.
