Kyiv records 1,740 new COVID-19 cases, 73 deaths – Klitschko

In Kyiv, 1,740 people have contracted COVID-19 over the course of the past day, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

“Unfortunately, the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the capital is worsening. Over the past day, 1,740 new COVID-19 patients have been recorded in Kyiv. Over the past two weeks, the death rate related to the virus has increased. Over the past day, a terrible number - 73 deaths. Not only the elderly were among them," Klitschko said at a briefing on November 10, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to Klitschko, among those who died over the past were 35 men aged 26-85, 38 women aged 34-95 years.

Klitschko also stressed that the number of new COVID-19 cases among children grew to 109 per day. In particular, 57 boys aged between 11 days and 17 years and 52 girls aged between two months and 17 years have contracted COVID-19 over the course of the past day.

According to Klitschko, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations and patients in need of oxygen support is also growing in the capital.

"Last night, 513 patients with coronavirus, suspected COVID and pneumonia were admitted to the capital's hospital," he said.

As reported, on November 9, Ukraine recorded 23,283 new COVID-19 cases and 816 coronavirus-related deaths.
