Ellen Usenko to represent Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2021

Ellen Usenko became the winner of the National selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021. She will represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision in Paris on December 19.

“The winner from among 11 participants was determined based on the results of the jury evaluation and online spectators vote. Ellen Usenko performed her original song Vazhil [Lever] and received 52 points from the jury members and 11 points from the audience, a total of 63 points,” Suspilne reports.

“Many thanks to everyone. I want to thank Oleksandr Balabanov, because your last year's victory gave me an impetus. I am grateful to all jury members! My song is called Vazhil. It is about making a decision, a decision to be happy,” Ellen commented.

Ellen Usenko is 14 years old, she lives in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region, and studies at Katapulta Art Music School. Last year, she also participated in the National selection of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and made it to the finals. The girl took part in several popular television talent shows, in particular, The Voice Kids. She also starred in music video of Ukrainian singer Zlata Ognevich.

As noted, the National selection final took place on Sunday, October 24, in the format of a live broadcast on the UA:Culture public TV channel using the videos of live performance by 11 participants of one of their songs or a song provided by the Suspilne to those who had not performed the original song at the first stage of selection.

As Ukrinform reported, the UA:Culture public TV channel will broadcast the final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021, which will take place on December 19 at the La Seine Musicale concert hall in Paris, located on the Île Seguin island on the Seine river.
