Zelensky says all major roads in Cherkasy region should be repaired in several years

Some 500 kilometers of roads have been repaired in Cherkasy region over the past few years, and all major roads in the region should be repaired in the next few years, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.

He said this during his visit to Cherkasy region on Wednesday, October 20, Ukrinform reports.

"In principle, the number of roads that have already been repaired is impressive. Some 250 km [were repaired] last year and there are the same plans under the Large Construction [program] this year. In two years, 500 km for Cherkasy region is a really serious result," Zelensky said.

According to him, this number of repaired roads has been the largest since Ukraine gained independence.

"In a couple of years, we will finish all the major roads in Cherkasy region," Zelensky said.

In addition, he said that programs would be implemented from next year to build "unique sports complexes," one of them to be built in Cherkasy region, as well as swimming pools and an ice arena in the region.

He also said that in order for people to be able to come to Kaniv and lay flowers at Taras Shevchenko's grave, there must be good roads.
