Minister Tkachenko calls on investing in creative economy

Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko has called on investing in the creative economy because it is profitable, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Speaking at the Fifth Annual International Creative Ukraine Forum, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, Tkachenko said: "If you want to invest one hryvnia in the creative industry, big business, you will get the highest multiplier, which will increase your investment, at the level of 2.2%. Compared to other industries, this is the highest indicator. One hryvnia of the value added in the creative industry - you get 2.2 of gross value added. When we talk about the value added, it is 2.80 of the total. It is very important. You can tell the bankers when you want to take a loan. It is better to show these figures. The creative industry generates more value added than other sectors, 333 hryvnias through exports”.

According to him, exports of services correspond to 30% of total exports of services or 5.4 billion exports of services in the field of creativity.

"When we compare these figures with European countries, these figures are in the line of the EU's leading democracies. Every tenth economic agent becomes an entrepreneur," the minister said.

At the same time, he noted that the pandemic had the greatest impact on the creative industry. "That's why we have created a unique program to return money in the amount of 1 billion hryvnias. This is a drop in VAT payments, and you can see what a big impact the coronavirus has had on the sectors like museums, TV broadcasts, movies, theaters and concerts. However, there have been also good news, namely, an increase in declared revenues in the IT and design sectors. There are good indicators here," Tkachenko stressed.

As reported, the Fifth Annual International Creative Ukraine Forum, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, kicked off on September 23.
