Vaccination certificates to be condition for traveling in Europe – Shmyhal

Vaccination certificates will be a condition for traveling in Europe; the launch of Ukrainian certificates is scheduled for early July, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this at a government meeting on May 26, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I would like to report separately on the situation with COVID passports or COVID certificates. The EU is actually at the final stage of agreeing on such passports. They will be a condition for traveling in Europe; and therefore Ukraine operates in sync with its European partners, and the launch of our digital certificates is scheduled for early July. We have time and these certificates will be valid in Europe,” Shmyhal said.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Ukraine began on February 24, 2021. On April 6, Ukraine signed an agreement with the American pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer for the supply of 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.

In general, according to the Ministry of Health, Ukraine reached an agreement on the supply of 42 million doses of coronavirus vaccines from different manufacturers by the end of 2021. The delivery will be carried out through direct contracts and the global COVAX Facility.
