Ukraine expects next delivery of AstraZeneca vaccine on May 24-25

The next delivery of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine is expected in Ukraine on May 24-25, according to Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko.

“The vaccine for the first vaccination has already been used in most regions. About 30,000 doses of the vaccine have been reserved for the second vaccination of those who were vaccinated in late February-early March. The next deliveries of the AstraZeneca vaccine are expected – this is the same product, no matter where it is produced. We expect the next delivery of 700,000 doses on May 24-25," Liashko said on Friday.

As of May 12, the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, reserved for the first dose, almost ran out at vaccination points.

On May 13, 17,057 people in Ukraine received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 4,530 people received the second dose. Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine, 926,520 people have been vaccinated, including 918,162 of them received the first dose, and 8,358 people received the second dose (two of them received the first dose abroad).

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Ukraine began on February 24, 2021. CoviShield vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac, Pfizer vaccine, SKBio vaccine created by Oxford University and AstraZeneca are registered and used in Ukraine.
