Shmyhal: Several more regions may ease quarantine restrictions in coming days

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said that several more regions may ease quarantine restrictions in the coming days.

"Last week, three regions have left the red zone of quarantine: Chernivtsi, Lviv and Odesa regions. In fact, a decrease in the number of new cases and hospitalizations have been recorded. Several more regions may ease quarantine restrictions in the coming weeks or even days,” Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the prime minister, local authorities still have the tools to respond quickly and impose certain quarantine restrictions in case of a sharp increase in the number of new coronavirus cases.

"These are adaptive quarantine principles that have proved their effectiveness, and this mechanism will be maintained in the future," he said.

As reported, Kyiv eases quarantine restrictions from May 1. The city will reopen shopping malls, restaurants, bars; public transport will operate as usual but in compliance with anti-epidemic measures. Lockdown in the capital has been in effect since April 5.
