Ukraine receives second batch of AstraZeneca vaccines within COVAX

Today, April 23, Ukraine has received the second batch of COVID-19 vaccines within the COVAX Facility, according to a press release from UNICEF, the text of which is available to Ukrinform.

"UNICEF together with WHO delivered 367,200 doses of AstraZeneca-SKBio, manufactured by SK Bioscience, South Korea. This batch of vaccines will be used mainly for vaccination of the priority groups and people aged 65+,” reads the document.

It is noted that Ukraine receives all vaccines within the COVAX Facility free of charge.

Supplies of vaccines within COVAX will continue until the end of the year. UNICEF will deliver vaccines to cover 8 million Ukrainians.

COVAX is a global initiative to accelerate the development and production of COVID-19 vaccines and to guarantee fair and equitable access for every country in the world. COVAX is co-led by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (Gavi) and the World Health Organization (WHO), alongside key delivery partner UNICEF.

As reported, on April 16, UNICEF delivered 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine to Ukraine via COVAX.
