Epidemic situation remains unstable in Ukraine – expert

The epidemic situation in Ukraine is still unstable, according to Head of the Department of Epidemiology at Kharkiv National Medical University Tetiana Chumachenko.

"The situation is unstable: some regions are excluded from red zone regions, others are reverted to them. Unfortunately, people continue to die in our country, a large number of severe forms [of COVID-19] continue to be observed," Chumachenko said at a press conference organized by Ukrinform.

She stressed the need to keep social distancing, avoid large crowds and follow the rules of hygiene. Chumachenko also called on people to get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available for them.

As reported, Ukraine recorded 7,856 new coronavirus cases on April 11, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,861,105.  Since the start of pandemic, Ukraine has recorded 1,416,215 recoveries and 37,301 deaths.
