PM Shmyhal: No need to impose total quarantine

A decrease in newly reported COVID-19 cases is already observed in a number of regions classified as red zone, so there is no need to impose strict restrictive measures throughout the country.

“There is no need to impose a total lockdown throughout the country at the moment,” Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the spread of coronavirus stabilizes in some regions after the imposition of the red level of epidemic danger and the relevant efforts of local authorities.

"There is a decrease in the number of patients and a reduction in the load on hospitals. If such pace maintains, it will be possible to return such regions to the orange zone," the Head of Government said.

In his opinion, this once again proved that adaptive quarantine is effective.
