Ukraine expects first batch of vaccines from COVAX by April 15

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine expects to get the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX Facility by April 15.

“This is the first batch to be delivered within the framework of COVAX Facility. To be exact, we expect to receive 360,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 117,000 doses of Pfizer by April 15. This is the information we have from COVAX... In total, we have to receive 1.7 million doses of vaccines within COVAX by June 1,” Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.

He reminded that Ukraine should receive 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines within the framework of the global COVAX Facility.

As reported, the Ministry of Health plans to start vaccination with the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine in May.

As of March 28, 198,464 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Ukraine, and 1,585 people were vaccinated on March 28.

On February 23, a batch of 500,000 doses of CoviShield vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, arrived in Ukraine.

In addition, on March 25, the first batch of 215,000 doses of Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac vaccine was delivered to Ukraine.

The vaccine manufactured by the American company Pfizer is also registered in Ukraine.
