Three Ukrainian writers longlisted for EBRD Literary Prize

Ukrainian writers Andriy Lyubka, Andrey Kurkov and Oksana Zabuzhko have been longlisted for the EBRD Literature Prize 2021.

The selected longlist was published on the official website of the EBRD.

Books by ten writers written in eight languages ​​will compete for the prize.

Three Ukrainian books are on the longlist: Gray Bees by Andrey Kurkov (published by MacLehose Press), Your Ad Could Go Here by Oksana Zabuzhko (Amazon Crossing) and Carbide by Andriy Lyubka (Jantar Publishing Ltd).

The three finalists of the Prize and their translators will be announced on May 3, 2021.

The EBRD Literary Prize was created in 2017 by the EBRD in cooperation with the British Council. The Prize champions the literary richness of EBRD’s regions of operations, i.e., 38 countries, including Ukraine.

The Prize is awarded to the year’s best work of literary fiction translated into English, originally written in any language of the EBRD’s countries of operations and published by a UK publisher.
