COVID-19 vaccine already delivered to all regional warehouses – Liashko

A COVID-19 vaccine has been delivered to all regional warehouses of the country, Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Viktor Liashko says.

"Vaccination against COVID-19 will begin in all regions of the country today. The vaccine has already been delivered to all regional warehouses," Liashko wrote on Facebook.

He noted that 159 people were vaccinated on February 24, namely: Cherkasy region – 80 vaccine shots, Chernihiv region – 10, Kyiv region – 19, Zhytomyr region – 40, and Vinnytsia region – 10.

According to Liashko, on February 25, vaccination will start in Poltava, Sumy, Donetsk, Luhansk, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Rivne, Volyn, Kirovohrad regions and the city of Kyiv.

Vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine started on February 24.

On February 23, 500,000 doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine, purchased at the expense of the state budget, were delivered to Ukraine. They were purchased through the Crown Agents British procurement agency.

In total, Ukraine intends to purchase 12 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca and NovaVax at public expense.
