COVID-19 vaccination begins in Kyiv

Vaccination against coronavirus has begun in Kyiv, the press service of Kyiv City State Administration reports.

"Today, February 25, a vaccination campaign against COVID-19 with Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine provided by the Health Ministry has begun in the capital," the statement reads.

Head of the Oleksandrivska Clinical Hospital Department will be one of the first to be vaccinated.

Vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine started on February 24.

As of February 25, some 136,328 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the city of Kyiv, including 652 new cases recorded in the past day.

As reported, on February 23, 500,000 doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine, purchased at the expense of the state budget, were delivered to Ukraine. They were purchased through the Crown Agents British procurement agency.

In total, Ukraine intends to purchase 12 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca and NovaVax at public expense.
