Ukrainians will be able to travel to EU after being vaccinated – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ukrainians will be able to travel to the EU after being vaccinated against COVID-19.

He said this during the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Responses" in Kyiv on February 8, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I am sure that Europe will not provide an opportunity according to information from my conversations with European leaders. Europe will not allow people to travel freely unless they are vaccinated. If people want to go somewhere - vacation or business trip, they must be vaccinated," Zelensky said.

At the same time, the head of state added that he is not sure that the COVID-19 passport will be introduced in all countries of the world, but believes that "it will help."

Zelensky is convinced that after the start of the vaccination campaign, the regime of entry for foreigners to Ukraine should mirror the conditions that other countries will establish for the entry of Ukrainians. "If they allow people to enter with some stamps, passports or confirmed vaccinations, then we must do the same," the president said.

As Ukrinform reported, Deputy Health Minister, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko said that Ukraine has a clear phased plan for vaccination against COVID-19, and that Ukraine will receive 117,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in February.

Ukraine expects to receive from 8 to 16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine free of charge as part of the global COVAX initiative.

The Health Ministry plans to vaccinate 50% of the population of Ukraine in 2021-2022.

As of February 8, Ukraine reported 1,246,990 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,141 new cases recorded over the past 24 hours.
