We will receive 10M doses of COVID-19 vaccine by summer – Zelensky

Ukraine will receive about 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine until the beginning of summer, including about 1 million doses in February.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Responses" in Kyiv on February 8, Ukrinform reports.

"I'm sure we will have about 10 million vaccines by the summer, maybe even more. The task is to order vaccines wherever there are vaccines," Zelensky said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine will receive more than 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in February.

He also reminded that back in November there were plans to create a special platform where Ukrainian citizens could sign up for vaccination. Before the start of mass vaccination, such a platform would be launched, Zelensky assured.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Health is planning to start vaccination against COVID-19 in February 2021. The Ministry of Health intends to vaccinate 50% of the population of Ukraine in 2021-2022.

Ukraine will receive 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine within the COVAX Facility. The delivery of the first batch of 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine is expected in mid-February.

Ukraine also signed an agreement to purchase 1.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech.
