City Council to allocate UAH 140M for vaccination of Kyiv residents – Klitschko

The Kyiv City Council is planning to allocate UAH 140 million in budget funds for vaccination of Kyiv residents.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this at a briefing on February 3, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"At the next meeting of the Kyiv City Council on February 11, we’re planning to amend the city's target program ‘Health of Kyiv’ for 2020-2022 and allocate UAH 140 million for COVID-19 vaccination in the capital," he said.

According to Klitschko, the heads of Kyiv healthcare facilities have been already instructed to set up special vaccination sites and mobile medical teams.

As reported by Ukrinform, Klitschko earlier stated that Kyiv city was negotiating with several manufacturers to purchase COVID-19 vaccines for the capital.

According to the Health Ministry, Ukraine expects to receive the first 117,000 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine under the COVAX global initiative in mid-February.

Ukraine’s Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Liashko said that vaccination against COVID-19 in Ukraine would begin on February 15.
