Canada-Ukraine audiovisual co-production agreement enters into force

The agreement on joint production of audiovisual works between Canada and Ukraine entered into force on January 1, 2021.

“From now on, Ukrainian and Canadian producers can apply for budget support, tax benefits and discounts on distribution in both countries if they co-produce the audiovisual works,” the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine informs.

“The agreement opens up excellent opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. However, it is also important to work on the international promotion of Ukraine. And this work is ahead,” said Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.

Canada is a recognized leader in co-production, implementing about 60 international projects annually.

"From now on, Canadian and Ukrainian producers can make great films together, using all the opportunities available in both countries," said Larisa Galadza, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine.

As president and CEO of the Canadian Media Producers Association Reynolds Mastin noted, the agreement will become the basis for fruitful cooperation.

In turn, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Motion Picture Association Victoria Yarmoschuk said that Ukraine has highly qualified specialists who have creative ideas and a very high level of training.
