Ukraine reports 9,699 daily COVID-19 cases

A total of 9,699 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,055,047, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

"Some 9,699 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been recorded in Ukraine as of December 31, 2020. In particular, those who have fallen ill are 341 children and 439 health workers," he wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He said that 209 deaths, 11,803 recoveries and 2,704 hospitalizations were recorded in Ukraine on December 30.

Stepanov noted that 58,547 coronavirus tests, including 38,932 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 19,615 ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, had been performed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

The highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was registered in Kyiv (1,332), Kyiv region (669), Zaporizhia region (660), Kharkiv region (570), and Odesa region (533).

A total of 7,986 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Ukraine on December 29.
