Ministry for Digital Transformation, Esports Association sign memorandum of cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Professional Esports Association (UPEA) Oleksandr Kokhanovsky have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The ceremony took place on December 10, Ukrinform reports referring to the press service of the Ministry for Digital Transformation.

"Ukraine is among the top ten esports countries in the world... The development of esports will allow Ukraine to hold large-scale international tournaments that will not only develop tourism, but also fill the state budget through indirect taxes," Fedorov said.

In turn, the UPEA Chairman of the Board stressed that the Association will be able to unite efforts and actions to increase the status of Ukraine as an innovative digital country, attract investment and introduce the latest technologies.

The memorandum stipulates that the Ministry for Digital Transformation, together with UPEA, will promote the development of the esports industry in Ukraine, provide regions with access to high-speed Internet and increase the level of digital literacy of Ukrainians.

As reported, esports was recognized as an official sport in Ukraine in September.
