Five schools remain closed in Kyiv due to COVID-19

Five schools have been closed in Kyiv city due to a rise in coronavirus cases, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

“In total, almost 1,500 pupils are sick with coronavirus in Kyiv. Also, more than 1,100 teachers are also sick,” Klitschko said at a briefing on December 7, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Some 1,190 classes in 289 schools have been transferred to distance learning in Kyiv.

The mayor also said that due to confirmed coronavirus cases, 215 groups in 155 kindergartens have been temporarily closed. Ten kindergartens have been fully closed for quarantine.

As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 821,947 COVID-19 cases were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine on December 7, including 8,641 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
