Ukraine will get COVID-19 vaccine in late Q1 or early Q2 – health minister

Ukraine expects a coronavirus vaccine to be available at the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter of 2021, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

He said this during a question-and-answer session in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, December 4, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Ukraine will receive about eight million doses of the vaccine as part of the global initiative COVAX. We are due to sign the respective documents by December 7. I think the deadline is the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter," Stepanov said.

He noted that Ukraine was in the process of finalizing agreements with global companies producing the coronavirus vaccine, which have already completed the third phase of clinical trials, including Pfizer.

As many as 15,131 new COVID-19 cases were registered in Ukraine as of December 4, bringing the country's total to 787,891.
