Bukovel resort plans to open ski season in early December despite pandemic

The Bukovel ski resort in the Carpathians, Ivano-Frankivsk region, is planning to launch a ski season on December 4-6, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think we will be able to open the winter season from December 4 to 6 ... We invite you to the Ukrainian Carpathians. There is no virus here, just fresh air," Bukovel Director Oleksandr Shevchenko wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, in early December there will be many lifts and trails. The 2020-2021 ski season begins with good weather – a lot of snow has fallen, the Bukovel resort noted.

As of November 30, Ivano-Frankivsk region reported 36,434 COVID-19 cases. In Ukraine, 737,625 people contracted the coronavirus.

Bukovel is the largest ski resort in Ukraine, part of which (lifts, hotels, land) belongs to the state.
