First Lady Olena Zelenska has called on Ukrainians to show zero tolerance for violence on the first day of an international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence."

The president's wife wrote this on her Facebook page.

"The global campaign '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence' starts today. Its goal is to draw public attention to the problem that is often ignored. Violence has many masks. But let's be honest with ourselves! Restrictions on freedom of choice are not a sign of care. Psychological pressure is not a form of education or a desire to strengthen character, and beating is not a proof of love," Zelenska said.

In this context, she called on everyone not to accept domestic violence as the norm and not to turn away from those who need help.

"The norm is zero tolerance for violence, and everyone can do it," Zelenska wrote.

The international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" is held annually from November 25 to December 10.
