Ukraine to purchase six million rapid coronavirus tests – PM

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget has supported a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to allocate UAH 1 billion for the purchase of 6 million rapid tests to detect COVID-19.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at the beginning of a government meeting on November 18, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Budget Committee supported the government's decision to allocate UAH 1 billion for the purchase of rapid coronavirus tests. They will mainly be handed over to family doctors and emergency medical personnel. So we will have an effective and fast tool for additional testing ... In total, 6 million COVID-19 test kits will be purchased," Shmyhal said.

Moreover, the PM added that another UAH 900 million would be used to provide hospital beds with additional oxygen systems. Additional funds will also be allocated to the regions of Ukraine for the preparation of mobile hospitals.
