Seven schools in Kyiv city remain closed due to coronavirus cases

Seven schools in Kyiv city have been closed for quarantine due to confirmed coronavirus cases among teachers, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

“Some 854 classes in 256 schools have been transferred to distance learning. In total, more than 950 pupils and more than 670 teachers in Kyiv are sick with coronavirus,” he said at a press briefing on November 18, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The mayor also said about coronavirus cases in kindergartens in Kyiv. In particular, 158 groups in 121 kindergartens have been temporarily closed.

“Six kindergartens have been shut down for quarantine. Let me remind you that only two kindergartens were closed at the beginning of the week,” he said.

As of November 18, Ukraine reported 570,153 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 12,496 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
