Number of COVID-19 patients in Ukrainian hospitals exceeds 27 thousand

There are currently 27,905 patients with or suspected coronavirus disease in healthcare institutions across Ukraine, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“Some 76,221 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 over the past week, which is 10,000 more than a week before. Some 9,653 people have been hospitalized. There are 27,905 patients in hospitals as of today’s morning. These people have moderate or severe course of the disease,” Stepanov said at a press briefing on November 16, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Stepanov, a weekend lockdown established in Ukraine should keep the incidence rate COVID-19 at current levels. A full lockdown, despite its effectiveness, is impossible in Ukraine due to the economic situation, Stepanov added.

As of November 16, Ukraine reported 545,689 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 9,832 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
