About 32,000 tourists visited Chornobyl in Jan-Oct 2020

In January-October 2020, almost 32 thousand people visited the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, which is almost 76 thousand less compared to the same period last year.

Ukraine's State Enterprise 'Center for Organizational, Technical and Information Support of Exclusion Zone Management' wrote about this on its Facebook page.

“According to the official data provided by the State Enterprise 'Center for Organizational, Technical and Information Support of Exclusion Zone Management', 31,720 people have visited the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone since the beginning of the year. This is less than in the same period in 2019,” the report says.

In January-October 2019, 107,641 tourists visited the exclusion zone.

It is noted that restrictions on entry into the exclusion zone due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of quarantine measures affected the flow of tourists.

Thus, after the easing of restrictions, the number of visitors in June amounted to 1,136 people, in July - 1,762 people, and in August - 2,997 people.
