Health Ministry studying issue of possible deployment of mobile hospitals

The Ukrainian Health Ministry is studying the issue of possible deployment of mobile hospitals for coronavirus patients.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said this at a press briefing in Kyiv, when commenting on the possibility of deploying mobile hospitals for COVID-19 patients in the capital's Palace of Sports, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"During two or three weeks, we have been working on the issues of deploying mobile hospitals, how much time we need, what we need and what territory we can use for deployment if the situation is getting worth and difficult in terms of hospitalization and the number of beds in healthcare institutions,” Stepanov said.

He stressed that the number of these beds is limited in the country and Ukraine can buy as much ventilators, oxygen concentrators as it wants, but “we may simply not have enough doctors and medical staff."

“In order not to cause panic, I emphasize: this issue is being worked out by the ministry, so that we can have a clear action plan, timeframe, so that there can be all opportunities to do it quickly. But the issue of deployment of hospitals is not on the agenda today,” Stepanov explained.
