Ukraine reports highest number of COVID-19 deaths in one day

Ukraine has reported 76 coronavirus deaths over the past 24 hours - the highest recorded death toll from Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

“Over the past 24 hours, the highest number of COVID-19 deaths – 76 – and the highest number of recoveries – 1,514 patients – has been recorded,” Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said at a briefing on September 16, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

A total of 72,324 people have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, while 3,340 coronavirus patients have died.

“In total, about 12,700 people with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 have been hospitalized. At the same time, 8,200 patients have a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19,” Stepanov said.

As of September 16, Ukraine confirms 162,660 COVID-19 cases, including 2,958 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

According to the Health Ministry data, 504 people have been hospitalized over the past 24 hours.
