Ministry of Health establishing cooperation with European Medicines Agency

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has held talks with the leadership of the European Medicines Agency on the establishment of cooperation.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Deputy Health Minister for European Integration Ihor Ivashchenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, September 3.

"The Ministry of Health has held talks with the leadership of the European Medical Association on establishing mechanisms for cooperation and interaction. In particular, the key issues on which agreement has been reached include the possibility of access to the information systems of the European Medicines Agency. The second point is the participation of domestic specialists and experts in the training programs of the European Medicines Agency. The issue also concerns expert support from the European Medicines Agency for the Ministry of Health in developing regulations and policies to continue bringing our legislation into line with EU regulations," Ivashchenko said.

According to him, cooperation with the agency allows domestic experts to cooperate with the European Medicines Agency in matters of drug registration, pharmacovigilance, clinical trials, inspections of compliance with the requirements of good manufacturing practice in pharmaceutical companies and more.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) coordinates the supervision of the quality of medicines and veterinary medicinal products throughout the European Union.
