All families who suffered from explosion in Kyiv building received apartments – Zelensky

All families who suffered from an explosion that happened in a multi-storey building in Kyiv on June 21 have received new apartments, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

"Unfortunately, we cannot return relatives to the families who lost their loved ones in the explosion. But we have done what we promised," Zelensky said on August 13.

According to him, due to lengthy bureaucratic procedures and paperwork, the process of providing new housing is usually delayed, but today all residents of the apartments destroyed by the explosion received new apartments.

"I am grateful to our team, we have done it. We promised [to give apartments] by the end of the summer – and we did it. Everyone has finally received new apartments in new buildings," the President noted.

According to Zelensky, it is now the responsibilities of local authorities to help people repair their apartments in order to provide them with comfortable living conditions.

As reported, on June 21, a powerful explosion damaged 40 apartments in a multi-storey building in Kyiv's Darnytsky district. The explosion destroyed interfloor structures between the fourth and eighth floors. Five people were killed.
