Some 39,000 children in Ukraine have received the status of victims of hostilities and armed conflicts, and more than 190,000 children have become IDPs due to the military conflict in Donbas.

This is stated in an annual report for 2019 on the state of observance and protection of human and civil rights and freedoms in Ukraine, which was presented at the Donetsk Regional State Administration on August 10, according to a statement posted on the website of the regional state administration.

"According to the Ministry of Social Policy, as of December 31, 2019, more than 190,000 children have been registered as IDPs. At the same time, only 39,000 people received the status of a child victim of hostilities, which is only 20%," the statement reads.

During the event, Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Yuliia Kostiunina thanked Pavlo Lysiansky, the representative of the Verkhovna Rada human rights commissioner in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, for adhering to the state position.
