Kyiv city, 12 regions not ready to ease lockdown restrictions – Health Ministry

As of July 30, 12 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv city do not meet all the necessary criteria for easing quarantine measures introduced to prevent the coronavirus spread.

According to data provided by the Ukrainian Health Ministry, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions and Kyiv city are not yet ready to ease lockdown restrictions.

Information on the spread of coronavirus in Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is not available.

The Health Ministry explains that regions with high prevalence of COVID-19 are considered to be regions that have one of the following indicators: the occupancy of beds in health facilities intended for hospitalization of patients with confirmed COVID-19 exceeds 50%; the average number of PCR and ELISA tests conducted during the past seven days is less than 24 per 100,000 population; the detection rate of COVID-19 is more than 11%; the growth rate of COVID-19 is more than 10%.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine extended coronavirus quarantine until August 31 and approved the country’s division into four types of epidemic zones. Green, yellow, orange, or red level of epidemic danger of COVID-19 spread will be set depending on the epidemic situation in a region or certain districts.

As of July 30, Ukraine reports 68,794 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,197 new cases recorded over the past day.
