Latvia’s Honorary Consulate opens in Chernivtsi

An Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia has opened in the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi, the press service of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration reports.

"The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia has officially opened in Chernivtsi. It started working in February, but due to quarantine, celebrations of the start of work were postponed. Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikāns took part in the official opening," the report says.

“The fifth consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine has opened. For this, we chose Bukovyna because it is a unique region. The opening of the Latvian consulate here is a significant event for this region, Latvia and Latvian-Ukrainian relations. Now we can exchange experience and cooperate for the benefit of the residents of our countries," the ambassador said.

Illia Hoch became the honorary consul of the Republic of Latvia in Chernivtsi region. He will work on the successful expansion of relations between Latvia and Bukovyna.
