COVID-19 mortality in Ukraine one of lowest in Europe - Stepanov

The death rate from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Ukraine is one of the lowest in Europe, Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.

"We have very good indicators for the treatment of patients with coronavirus, including such a rate as mortality that is one of the lowest in Europe. All this is thanks to our specialists," Stepanov said at a briefing on Friday, July 3.

In this regard, he stressed that hard work had been done on the standards of medical care, approved protocols that are constantly being changed.

According to the minister, the situation with coronavirus is currently the tensest in the western regions of Ukraine: the Volyn, Zakarpattia, Lviv, and Rivne regions. In general, the incidence rates now exceed the norm in 11 regions.

As of July 3, Ukraine reported 46,763 cases of COVID-19. Some 876 new cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours.
