Zelensky, Boiko would reach second round of presidential election - poll

Incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky would receive the support of 25% of Ukrainians in the presidential election or 35% of those who would go to the polls if the election were held in the near future, according to a survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center.

"If the presidential election took place in the near future, Zelensky would get the most vote in the first round (25% of all respondents, or 35% of those who would take part in the election and have decided who to vote for)," the center said in a statement.

According to the statement, 15% of all respondents and 20% of those who would go to the polls are planning to vote for deputy head of the parliamentary faction of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Yuriy Boiko, 11% and 16%, respectively, for former Ukrainian President, MP Petro Poroshenko, 6% and 8%, respectively, for Batkivshchyna party leader, MP Yulia Tymoshenko, 3% and 4%, respectively, for Ihor Smeshko, 2% and 3%, respectively, for Anatoliy Hrytsenko, 1% and 2%, respectively, for Ruslan Koshulynsky, 1% and 2%, respectively, for Oleksandr Vilkul, and 1% and 1%, respectively, for Oleh Liashko.

If Zelensky and Poroshenko reached the second round of the presidential election, 41% of all respondents would vote for Zelensky, or 70% of those who would take part in the election and have decided who to vote for, and 16% and 30%, respectively, would support Poroshenko.

The survey was conducted by the Razumkov Centre's sociological service from June 17 to June 24, 2020. Some 2,017 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed in all regions of Ukraine, except for Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The poll's margin of error (excluding the design effect) does not exceed 2.3% with a probability of 0.95.

The survey was conducted as part of a research project by the Razumkov Center with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine.
