Kyiv climbs 44 spots in ranking of most expensive cities for expatriates

Kyiv has climbed 44 spots in the ranking of the most expensive cities for expatriates.

Over the past year, the Ukrainian capital has risen from 150th to 106th place, according to the 2020 Cost of Living ranking carried out by Mercer.

Mercer took into account the following factors when compiling the rating: currency fluctuations, inflation, and instability of accommodation prices.

The five most expensive cities for expatriates are Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China), Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), Tokyo (Japan), Zurich (Switzerland), and Singapore (Singapore).

The cheapest cities are currently Tunis (Tunisia), Windhoek (Namibia), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Karachi (Pakistan).

Earlier, the Ukrainian capital climbed 22 positions in the ranking of the most expensive cities in the Worldwide Cost of Living 2020.
