Development of domestic tourism and air travel is important in current conditions – Kryklii

The development of domestic tourism and regional air travel can become a new interesting business area in Ukraine in the conditions of closed borders of many states due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii says.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has made adjustments to the life of almost every country. The development of domestic tourism and regional air travel can become a new interesting direction when most countries are closed," the minister wrote on his Facebook page.

He added that the reconstruction of the runway at Odesa Airport has already been completed at 98%. The Infrastructure Ministry is launching the preparation of a project for the construction of an airport in Mukachevo and developing the preparation of a project for the construction of an airport in Dnipro.

The minister also noted that air navigation equipment is being installed at Mykolaiv Airport, and sources of financing for improving the runway at Kherson Airport are being determined.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced the quarantine to combat the spread of coronavirus disease in Ukraine on March 12.

On May 20, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to move to a so-called adaptive lockdown model from May 22 to June 22.

Ukraine will resume domestic air transport services from June 5 and international flights from June 15.
