Almost half of Ukrainians think their country developing

Almost half of Ukrainians think that their country is developing, and the other half are convinced that life here is becoming unbearable, according to a survey conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

KIIS Deputy Director Anton Hrushetsky presented the results of the survey entitled "Socio-political orientations of the population of Ukraine" at a press conference on Friday, June 5, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Forty-seven percent of respondents believe that Ukraine is developing slowly and turning into a developed country. At the same time, 46% chose the opposite view that Ukraine is stagnating and life is becoming increasingly unbearable," Hrushetsky said.

According to him, 40.8 respondents believe that Ukraine as a country is on the path of unification, and 46.1% believe that the state is falling apart and is going to split.

At the same time, 43.7% of those polled said that the most important thing for Ukraine was the independence and integrity of its borders, whereas 34.5% think that the most important thing is the well-being of its citizens.

Some 29.6% of respondents believe that the most important thing for Ukraine is to win the war, and 49.1% believe that, first and foremost, it is necessary to develop the economy now.

The survey was carried out during April 26-30, 2020. A total of 1,500 people were interviewed. The poll's margin of error (with a probability of 0.95 and without taking into account the design effect) does not exceed 2.6% for figures close to 50%, 2.2% for figures close to 25%, 1.7% for figures close to 10%, and 1.1% for figures close to 5%.
