Kyiv public transport to operate as usual from May 23

In Kyiv, above-ground public transport will begin to operate in normal mode from May 23.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this at a briefing on May 21, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Kyiv’s above-ground public transport, namely a bus, tram, trolleybus, will begin to operate as usual from May 23 in compliance with all norms and regulations," Klitschko said.

He noted that stores with a total area of up to 1,000 square meters, sports and children's playgrounds will reopen.

As Ukrinform reported, from May 25, the Kyiv subway will resume operation.

On March 12, 2020, the government introduced quarantine measures in Ukraine to tackle the spread of coronavirus. In particular, trading establishments were closed, except groceries, pharmacies, gas stations, and banks. The operation of the subway in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, municipal, intercity, and interregional road, rail, and air transport services were suspended.
