President announces new program to support pensioners aged 75+

The Ukrainian government is developing a program to support pensioners aged 75 and older.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference on the first year of his term in Kyiv on May 20, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We introduced the 80+ program, and we added UAH 500 to the pension of each pensioner over the age of 80. Now we will develop a program for the next year to implement the 75+ program," he said.

According to the president, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna is working on the development of this program.

Zelensky reminded that in May, pensions were indexed, as well as benefits were paid to citizens whose pensions are less than UAH 5,000.

The president also believes that the government should provide the elderly with normal medicine, the opportunity to buy pharmaceuticals, as well as personal protective equipment during the coronavirus epidemic.
