Vogue writes about Ukrainian artist who creates accessories from old gadgets

Vogue has published the article about Ukrainian artist Hanne Zaruma from Lviv who creates unusual accessories from retro computers and discarded flip phones.

“I make all of my work from used stuff that everyone has forgotten about. I am trying to give it a new life,” says Zaruma, who uses the objects found in secondhand stores and yard sales in Lviv to embellish vintage shoes and handbags.

Zaruma’s Instagram page is filled with these curious technological fashion creations, Vogue writes.

“Think a shoulder bag affixed with the remnants of a Nokia phone, statement earrings made from shards of a motherboard, or shoes covered with the keys of an old computer fished out from the artist’s storage closet,” reads the article.

“With my work I want to show that it is not necessary to have money to make art,” says Zaruma.

A law student by day, the artist began experimenting with her quirky designs about a year ago. One of the first pieces to ignite interest on Instagram was a pair of jeans covered entirely in autumnal leaves.

Though later, Hanne Zaruma started to use the gadgets of yesteryear for her art objects.
