Klitschko says Kyiv has 380 medical ventilators

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko says the city has 380 medical ventilators.

“We continue to purchase all the necessary equipment. We have significantly increased the number of medical ventilators. We already have 380 such devices. And we additionally ordered 17 ventilators,” Klitschko said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the city continued to purchase face masks, protective clothing for healthcare workers and medical supplies. "Yes, it really costs a lot of money. Everyone understands that in the context of restrictive measures the city is losing a lot. But we are redirecting funds from other budget items. At the same time, the capital was the first to introduce business benefits. We plan to develop a further strategy and prepare for any scenario," the mayor said.

As of 10:00 on April 1, Ukraine had 669 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 17 deaths. Ten patients recovered.
